Product details
Extended schools, as outlined in this prospectus, provide a range of services and activities, often beyond the school day, to help meet the needs of children, their families and the wider community.
The extended services covered includes: quality 'wraparound' childcare provided on the school site or through other local providers, which will be available 8am-6pm, all year round; a varied menu of activities on offer, such as homework clubs and study support, sport or music tuition; parenting support; swift and easy referral to a wide range of specialist support services, including health services; and the provision of wider community access to ICT, sports and arts facilities, including adult learning.
This prospectus sets out a core offer of extended services that Government wants to see all children enjoy by 2010, and in half of primary schools and a third of secondary schools by 2008.
Please note, this publication has been superseded by DFES-00432-2007 (Extended Schools: Building on Experience).
