Thumbnail of Common mental health problems: Supporting school staff by taking positive actionThis product is created by DCSF

This document seeks to provide advice to people dealing with individuals experiencing common mental health problems. The guidance focuses on common mental health problems in schools, but it is not intended to tackle specific issues such as those relating to school organisation, as there are other sources of information and support which schools can use.

The context for this information and advice is the duty of care which employers have under various legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work Act and the Disability Discrimination Act.

By sympathetically applying this guidance it is hoped that employers and managers can reach the best possible outcome for teachers, pupils and schools.
